Job Description:

The Security Operations Center monitors fire alarms, burglar alarms, and video surveillance systems for over 1,000 customer and corporate facilities scattered throughout the United States and Canada.

The Personnel Security Specialist will proactively maintain all aspects of physical security at the company's award winning, state-of-the-art Security Control Center located near the Houston IAH Airport. He/she will set up and operate all physical security systems which include: Security Server, Access Control System Software and Hardware, Closed Circuit Television System, CCTV Digital Recording System, Electronic Asset Tagging System, Employee Badge Production System, Emergency Notification System.

Experience/Skills
Job Responsibilities:

. Install, upgrade, maintain and repair computerized security and fire/life safety systems, equipment and devices at client sites including alarms, closed circuit television, radio and intercom systems, access control systems, watch tour systems, and related data lines;

. Coordinate the work of vendors and contractors, as needed, and perform and document preventive maintenance on equipment and systems according to an established program;

. Make recommendations on repairs and improvements to equipment;

. Assist district site managers with the development of the preventive maintenance programs;

. Issue and maintain records for computerized card key programs to ensure compliance with Trust rules and procedures;

. Perform new installations and repairs to security access control systems, alarms, and closed-circuit television systems, including software upgrades and drive replacement for Digital Video Recorders (DVRs);

. Respond to emergency equipment failures promptly and makes necessary repairs to keep equipment functioning;

. Maintain a supply of key parts to make emergency repairs;

. Diagnose and resolve problems related to networking and telecommunications; isolate software and hardware problems; repair equipment;

. Administer client web application servers to include back-up and preventive maintenance;

. Assist with Technical Support problems and issues by spotting reoccurring issues, and devising a solution to prevent them;

. Research and troubleshooting of the entire network; perform routine network administration and maintenance;

. Conduct database and network user profile management and supervision;

. Manage multiple servers, ensuring that maximum uptime;

. Troubleshoot problems with networks, web services, mail services;

. Monitors system logs and activity on all servers and devices;

. Perform other security project functions as directed by management.

. Requires up to 10% travel outside of Houston, to include the US and Canada.



Minimum Requirements:

Education:

Two years of college or equivalent, related job experience.

Security Systems Experience:

. Minimum 3 years experience with installation and configuration of desktop and peripheral technology, as well as computer networking.

. Experience as a Technician/System Administrator installing & maintaining technical security systems or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

. Working knowledge of electronics, computerized security and fire/life safety systems, access control systems and/or other physical security systems.

. Experience or coursework in alarm/CCTV/access control installation and/or service.

. Experience in troubleshooting alarm systems from a remote location that monitor fire, intrusion, duress, and access denial.

. Working knowledge of web application security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures.

. Ability to provide clients with requirements analysis, design, and installation of remote network managed security systems.


Technology Skills:

. Knowledge and/or experience with security principles and techniques, surveillance systems, network principles, protocols, standards, various operating systems, and basic shell programming, internet software and protocols, IP's and related information.

. Ability to diagnose and resolve network problems, manage file servers, install and configure computer software, and troubleshoot errors.

. Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2000/2003, Linux, Internet Information Services 5.x and 6.0, MS SQL Server 2000, Visual Basic Script.

. Knowledge of TCP/IP stacks and their functionality.

. Must be proficient in Windows-based computer software systems, including MS Office.

Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications:

. Must pass background verification, drug screening and qualify for a State of Texas license, if required.

. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment, some twisting and turning with equipment installs.

. Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule in order to assist with emergency and crisis situations.

. Must have reliable transportation (costs for business use of personal vehicle will be reimbursed under corporate policy)
