Description
General Position Overview: Identify and manage issues as they relate to applications and systems. Understands from the top level how different DSE technology systems and infrastructure interrelate. Support and maintain DSE applications according to accompanying SLA contracts and uptime expectations. Direct communication and advise development/deployment efforts with regard to issue identification, resolution, and prevention. Activities include: working with software development and infrastructure teams to prioritize development efforts around product improvement; building, integrating, and deploying software releases; acting as a liaison between application component development teams; developing and maintaining external vendor relationships; understanding server configurations and how they impact application operation and performance; identifying opportunities for deployment or development improvements such as server configuration or development best practices; and participating in and managing product improvement. There is a need to understand the .Net framework and how it interoperates with the Windows 2000 and 2003 OS.

This role should have the ability to reverse engineer an application. The ability to look at code and clearly understand how it was written and what is happening is a must.

It is important that a person in this role understand how a development organization operates and what the toll gates are between deliverables. Understanding of the SDLC is very important because of the process location of the team on which this position will reside. A successful operations team means that proper procedures and processes were enforced earlier along in the project lifecycle.
