We are currently seeking an AS/400 Cobol programmer to work in the design of a claims processing systems called PowerMHS.

Summary description of skills and experience:
Acts as a designer for CSC's Power MHS utilizing a thorough understanding of technology, tools and existing designs. Provides comprehensive consultation to project team at the highest technical level on all phases of application design and processes. Works closely with IT staff to identify application development solutions, new or modified programs, reuse of existing code. Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective application programming solution. Documents designs and provides on-going support throughout the lifecycle of the project or baseline activity.

Experience/Skills
Requirements:

Knowledge of data structures. Demonstrated knowledge of systems development life cycle.
Experience in using structured development methodologies.
Organizational skills desired with ability to prioritize work and multitask.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts, strategies and plans in terminology understood by business and IT professionals in verbal or written format.

Experience on AS400 and Cobol programming
Ability to work in a team based environment required.
Knowledge of best practices of a high performing IT organization

Education /Experience:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, at least five or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of six years experience application program development, or the equivalent in education and work experience. Proven skills on medium to large scale systems and projects/enhancements. Must have technical skill-set including programming experience with COBOL, with the integration of multiple systems.
