. Directly responsible for the management of a team of engineers/analysts performing day to day operational support of client's computing resources on the AS/400 (iSeries) platform.

o Act as a liaison between Operational Engineering and Engineering.
o Directly responsible for generating a departmental budget including creation of underlying general assumptions, associated risks and line item detail. Understand and articulate resource plans and requirements- non-discretionary vs. discretionary, analysis for giving the business choices. Performs variance analysis on an ongoing basis.
o Develop and maintain project plans, risk assessments and performance metrics to support implementation activities, completion of tasks, and scope control for assigned projects.
o Working closely with other Infrastructure Engineering teams direct, evaluate, set standards and implement client/server management system strategies.
o Participates in the development or selection of new applications and technologies on the IBM iSeries platform to enable client's IT to respond to the needs of both internal and external customers.
o Provide senior technical leadership to the department, Computer Operations, I.T. and the company, including being familiar with the future direction of technology and platforms, how that direction will impact the company, and how future and current systems can be leveraged for the benefit of the company.
o Directly responsible for directing, evaluating, setting standards, and implementing hardware, communications and operating system strategies.
o Work with Infrastructure Engineers to implement application and database access strategies residing on iSeries technology.
o Work closely with other I.T. groups to coordinate current and future plans and activities, including the coordination and technical assistance to facilitate specific development projects that involve the various system environments, the coordination of software upgrades and the installation of new products.
o Directly responsible for managing the monitoring, performance, and forecasting of IBM iSeries systems and their associated networks.
o Develop methods and procedures for testing, installing and implementing new hardware and software upgrades.
o Build, maintain and support systems, programs and procedures that ensure peak performance and reliability of the client's computer and telecommunications systems at minimum cost.
o Participate with hardware, software, and service vendors in the assessment of advanced technologies.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
8 + years work experience in Computer Support, Engineering or Operations required.
Requires knowledge of IBM AS/400 (iSeries) Systems, Network Operating Systems, relational database architecture, client/server technology, computer science, business data processing, database transaction processing systems, relational database architecture, wide and local area networks, communications protocols, real-time systems, mission-critical systems, industry standards and FCC regulations, and various types of computer terminal equipment. Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills and project management skills.
