Description

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the day to day management accounting staff. The ideal candidate will be technically sound, process-oriented and must possess excellent team leadership skills.  The core responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Functions/ Responsibilities of the Position:

 

·          Manage all month-end closing responsibilities and financial statement preparation for all companies, including preparation of journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations and foreign currency translations as needed

 

·          Oversee the A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets, and payroll functions

 

·          Monitor expense allocations; review general ledger accounts for compliance

 

·          Work with the external audit firm, including preparation of work papers

 

·          Assist with the preparation of internal management reports and the analysis of fluctuations

 

·          Work with the appropriate HR contacts regarding payroll and employee withholdings

 

·          Identify areas of improvement within the accounting department to increase efficiencies and develop streamlined accounting processes, implementing solutions accordingly

 

·          Educate accounting team members, at both the peer and staff levels, regarding process improvement opportunities, technical accounting methods and other areas of development

 

·          Prepare and analyze internal calculations and schedules

·          Maintain schedules and handle various financial projects as assigned

·          Work with Management to explain inquires on balance sheet and income statements

 

·          Assist in the integration of the Great Plains software

·          Perform special projects as determined by management

 

Required Experience/Skills:

·          Bachelor's degree in Accounting

·          5-8 years progressive accounting and general ledger experience, including oversight of all aspects of month-end close, preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules needed for consolidation files

·          2 years of direct supervisory/management experience is required.

·          Project Management experience is preferred, particularly in the area of developing and implementing systems and work-flow efficiencies

·          Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

·          Current or prior experience with Great Plains accounting software

·          Working with a U.K. company - parent / subsidiary situation - would be a plus
