The Advisory Engineer will provide design and leadership oversight for the operational stability of complex LAN/WAN data network. This position will (a) ensure LAN/WAN networking and Internet connectivity and data integrity, and maintain systems capacity and network performance; (b) lead the development and implementation of solutions to support business requirements; (c) design, promote and implement standards, procedures and policies to ensure availability, capacity and performance of networks in conformance with SLAs; (d) develop project implementation plans and; (e) survey and evaluate performance needs and goals of users, and recommend improvements to existing infrastructure; (f) diagnose and resolve complex LAN/WAN issues. This team lead will also backup the core-site team lead. Project duties include attending technical planning and review meetings with project team, co-developing due diligence technical criteria with project team, providing weekly progress report to MCI engineering management, leading engineering team through due diligence, collecting technical information for database entry, identifying remediation requirements, and implementing SNMP network management to all existing installed WAN devices at remote sites.



M.S. degree in technical area and 12-15 years job-related experience or equivalent technical and business acumen. Minimum Cisco CCNP certification.



CCDP, CCSA, CCIE, certifications. 7-10 years experience with network design, operational support, hands-on implementation and configuration of routers, hubs, switches, and cabling in a large LAN/WAN UNIX environment. Expert knowledge of Cisco routers and LAN switches. Expert knowledge of Juniper M series routers. Expert knowledge of EIGRP,OSPF,BGP,RIP,FR/ATM, ACLs, TCP/IP, IPX. Extensive experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting VLANs using CISCO equipment, to include intimate knowledge of Spanning Tree Protocol, VLAN Trunking Protocol, inter-VLAN routing, and trunking with ISL and 802.1q. Knowledgeable in use of network management and analysis tools. Experience using NAI Sniffer, Project Management. Firewall and security technology.
