Job Description
Applicant for this position should be proficient in Microsoft Windows and Unix-based applications with McKesson Horizon Lab and Blood Bank Products. Also working knowledge of any Anatomical Pathology system.
Understands and supports HL7 interfaces to these various systems, with the ability to read, map and troubleshoot issues.Understands and can support complex bidirectional orders/results interfaces to 3rd party outpatient clinics.Builds, tests and validates all new laboratory tests added to support 3rd party HL7 bidirectional orders/results interface. Understands and assists with CAP Certification from an IT perspective.
Manages upgrades, and updates and report requests on an ongoing basis for these systems.
Necessary Skills:
- 2+ years of administration experience in a clinical information systems environment
- HL7 troubleshooting and mapping experience required
- Experience with Horizon Blood Bank /Lab Application Required
- Experience with Anatomical Pathology Systems
- SQL Report writing experience required
- Crystal Report writing experience required
- Laboratory
- Working knowledge of Master files and Patient Merges
- Bachelors’ degree in Microbiology or equivalent work experience and/or formal training
- Possess strong communication skills to effectively communicate with management, team members, and users
- Strong written and customer service skills
- Possess skills necessary to lead others in the report development process
- Possess strong quantitative and analytical skills, strong problem solving, and conceptual thinking abilities
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as ability to work well independently
