Description
PLANIT Technology Group is currently seeking an Application Administrator for a direct hire position with our client in Newport News, VA.

The Application Administrator will be responsible for administering and maintaining specified N-tier applications within the clients environment to include installation, configuration, development, monitoring, planning, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.

Responsibilities:
* Administer N-tier third-party application(s)
* Ensure the quality and delivery of application operations supporting the business in accordance with agreed upon standards
* Perform Capacity Planning to ensure appropriate storage and/or processing capability for the specified applications to support present and future initiatives
* Provide Level 3 technical support to include proactive and reactive incident resolution
* Perform proactive review of applications and systems performance metrics and alerts to ensure event correlation and trend analysis are performed on a regular basis
* Collaborate with Systems Administrators to troubleshoot hardware and OS-level issues on all platforms
* Work closely with Problem Manager to understand recurring incidents impacting user population, help identify root cause, and resolve problems
* Ensure knowledge database is populated with resolutions, workarounds, known issues
* Review system logs to identify signs of potential problems
* Execute software or system releases as requested
* Establish and maintain users in regard to their files, rights, and account restrictions
* Stay current on technologies affecting current systems infrastructure issues
* Respond to requests for configuration changes
* Resolve performance issues

Requirements:
* Minimum of three years work related experience
* Bachelor's degree preferred
* Strong organizational skills
* Excellent customer service skills and service orientation
* Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences in written and non-written formats
* Thorough understanding of Windows Server OS
* Understanding of networking TCP/IP
* Thorough understanding and experience with at least one of the following databases: Oracle or SQL, SQL preferred
* Experience writing SQL queries and scripts
* Knowledge of database tuning and configuration
* Experience or familiarity with IIS, HTML, Java and JBoss
