Description
Global Financial Firm located in OFALLON, MO has an immediate opening for a Application Programmer Expert.

Acts as a technical leader and consultant to programmers and management. Acting under the most general direction, formulates system scope and objectives. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex data processing problems, keeping in mind the capacity and limitations of the equipment, operating time and form of desired results. Prepares detailed project and documentation using a project software development LifeCycle Methodology. Analyzes and revises existing systems logic difficulties as necessary. Provides quality assurance review. Acts an internal consultant providing technical guidance on complex projects. Assists in training less experienced programmers and analysts. Has the ability to multi-task. Works independently. Possesses solid problem-solving skills.

  • Formulates system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify critical computer systems under the most general direction.
  • Develops logic, writes code, tests and debugs new or existing computer systems to automate procedures and improve information availability, in a manner consistent with IS standards and methodologies.
  • Prepares general and detailed system design specifications using a structured methodology. Conducts walkthrus of design and coding deliverables.
  • Prepares operating instructions, procedures and controls to assure trouble-free operations of systems. Prepares documentation that is clear, concise, and complete, and is consistent with IS and Data Center standards.
  • Use job scheduling software to execute a batch process that consists of 1,000 plus jobs.
  • Use scheduling software tools to maintain batch testing that mirrors production processing.
  • Work with the development project teams to help define production job schedules and integrate new or updated job streams into the overall production schedule.
  • Researches and analyzes systems, procedures, and information requirements of the customer with a view toward the feasibility of computerization.
  • Keeps informed of current techniques, methods, philosophy and technological developments in mortgage and financial information systems fields.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of progress and problems.
  • Acts as a technical leader and consultant to programmers and management. Assists in training less experienced analysts and programmers.
  • Gains an understanding of the Mortgage Business Systems and its operations.
  • Proactively researches latest MVS Software upgrades and provides appropriate recommendations.
  • Analyzes application as a whole to leverage latest technology solutions.
  • Supports current production systems.
