We have an immediate need for an Application Systems Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION
Experience Level:
- 4 year degree plus 7-10 years experience.

Summary:
- Acts in a high-level technical role as a designer for major computer applications utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs.
- Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors.
- Designs platforms, writes code, and develops tests. Leads multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis.
- Acts as expert technical resource to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process.
- May act as project/team lead.

Essential Job Functions:
- Provide production support and support fixes for the YOM application which is a WebSphere J2EE and PowerBuilder application with an Oracle backend.
- The applicant will be responsible for but not limited to: production support, support fixes, technical leadership, cross train, mentor, capacity planning, and system management.
- The applicant must be willing to carry a pager to provide 24 X 7 support.
- The applicant should be able to work in a team oriented environment where ideas are debated.
- The applicant will work directly with development teams, system administrators, database administration and various support groups to support the application.
- The position will require strong communication skills to facilitate those efforts.

Desired Qualifications:
- Applicant must have extensive J2EE, Java Server Faces, PowerBuilder and PL/SQL experience.
- Applicant must have working knowledge of XML, WebSphere Application Server, Web Services, Service Oriented Architecture, and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Work directly with system analysts to develop business/functional requirements, and produce corresponding design, test plans, implementation plans, and application documentation as required.
