As a production support Technology applications consultant you will: develop a comprehensive understanding of Humana's organizational structure and business needs, translating those demands into system architecture and design specifications. You will examine existing technology, interface with internal customers and external vendors, and continually develop technical improvements.
  • Provide applications break/fix support for on-line web applications
  • Partner with Humana's internal web development team to develop an understanding of current implementations of web application standards, map existing applications to data source, and identify problematic data issues
  • Translate system requirements into technical architectures and designs
  • Be part of a team which provides 24x7 support for high-profile web applications
  • Create design models for web and data services and presentation components
  • Provide training for more junior web development associates


Role Essentials
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the .NET framework including web development with ASP.NET, C#, and ADO.NET as well as Microsoft Application Blocks including the UIP Application Block.
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Design including common Design Patterns
  • Knowledge of Oracle relational databases including PL/SQL and using TOAD with VSS.
  • Hands-on experience debugging a multi-tiered, distributed application using Visual Studio
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving techniques
  • Effectively communicates with technical and non-technical teams
  • Practical experience with XML-based technologies and Web Srvices including SOAP, UDDI and MSXML
  • Progressive experience as a developer in large IT projects
  • Associates Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience


Role Desirables
  • Team Player - Evaluates root causes and implements solutions as part of a team.
  • Understands how to effectively manage source code using the concepts of branching and merging (using VSS and/or TFS)
  • Has a proactive mindset - Able to recognize potential future issues and take action to keep the issues from occuring
  • Experience using XSLT as a UI presentation technique
  • Experience with legacy systems integrations
  • Knowledge of the Health Insurance industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Team Foundation Server and/or Team System
  • Understands build scripts created using Nant and/or TFS team build
  • Experience with Load Testing and Performance Tuning (Mercury Suite Preferred)
  • Understands enterprise logging tools like log4net
  • Experience debugging issues in a distributed server environment including server farms
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • ETL skills using SQL 2K5 SSIS
  • Siebel analytics/Oracle BI experience and experience with dimensional data
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • HTML, Javscript skills


Reporting Relationships
  • You will report to a Technology Manager. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Operating Officer.
