DESCRIPTION The Architect's responsibilities include activities related to both LAN and WAN disciplines. The candidate will participate in project design and perform off hours implementation work as needed.Responsibilities:LAN: Design, implement, and troubleshoot layer 2 and 3 connectivity issues related to user access Switches, core switch functionality and issues related to the associated fiber and copper infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to IP Addressing issues, VLAN assignment, VRF, Cisco LAN switch (ie. 4xxx, 35xx, 37xx, etc.) and Router configuration, design review, RSP processing, Cisco core switch (ie. 65xx, Nexus, etc.) configuration, Cisco Wireless product's configuration, failed/damaged copper infrastructure and interconnecting fiber uplinks. Perform site design activities including circuit cable patching, equipment installation, configuration, and testing.WAN: Design, implement, and troubleshoot connectivity issues related to Frame Relay, dedicated T1, and VPN remote links. This includes but not limited to Router failures, Router configurations, VPN appliance failures, VPN appliance configuration, carrier circuit issues, and applications performance issues.This position requires a thorough working knowledge of TCP/IP protocol function, Ethernet topology, advance routing protocol (ie BGP, OSPF), and Cisco Router and switch installation and configuration. Other skills include physical and logical network design, documentation, and the ability to resolve communications problems to their root cause. In addition, protocol analysis skills with the Sniffer product are required for resolving network and application related problems and performance issues.Also required are professional team interaction skills and thorough documentation skills.
