Description
The candidate must have at least 10 years of experience in software marketing, at least five of which are in a senior management role. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of marketing experience in the security software industry (i.e., anti-malware solutions for consumers and enterprise customers), including experience in brand positioning, churn reduction, business development and channel development. In addition, the ideal candidate should be able to identify marketing and strategic partnerships in which the candidate played a key role that resulted in substantial customer acquisition and revenue growth. The ideal candidate should also be able to demonstrate success with building new brand awareness or improving awareness of an existing brand. The candidate must also be able to evaluate and effectively manage public relations, graphic designer and other third party marketing resources.

Educational requirements are an MBA with focus on marketing and finance or a bachelors in business and extensive experience in marketing in the security software industry. The candidate needs to be able to express concepts in financial terms and be comfortable with quantitative analyses.

This is an executive position, reporting to the CEO. The successful candidate will be expected to present and discuss marketing strategy at the Board level. The Chief Marketing Officer will plan and direct all aspects of the companys marketing strategy, policies, objectives and initiatives. Initially, the CMO will be required to establish a comprehensive marketing strategy for the company, after taking into account the strengths/weaknesses of the companys technology, sales channels, competitive position and financial situation. This strategy will include, among other things, an assessment of multiple sectors or areas of focus for the company, an analysis of the costs/benefits of pursuing each sector and recommendations regarding focus and expected outcomes. Following acceptance of the marketing strategy, the CMO will be responsible for developing specific plans and objectives to implement the strategy. In addition, the CMO will provide hands-on marketing assistance in support of the companys sales efforts. This assistance will include directing the design, development and production of marketing collateral (including the companys website), participating in business development activities and coordinating the companys public relations efforts.
