Description

Major Insurance Company located in New York, NY has an immediate contract opportunity for an experienced Business Objects Developer.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

Strong experience with Business Intelligence tools extensive experience with Business Objects 6.x and XI r2
Experience with Universe design and report development in BO. Knowledge of batch processing of Business Objects reports and Broadcast Agent scheduler using SDK in VB, Batch Files. Business Objects Report writing skills, experience with report customization using the BO SDK.
SQL and PL/SQL writing skills on Relational databases preferably Oracle 10g, Teradata V2R5, UDB
Fundamental knowledge of Data warehouses and reporting technologies on data warehouses, concepts of OLAP reporting
Knowledge of dimensional data models including aggregates/contexts
Should have strong knowledge and experience with handling performance issues, performance tuning work due to size of Reporting Database
Contribute to the technical code documentation and functional specification documents. Good writing skills are required.
Administration and Installation of BO 6.x and XI server products is a big plus.
Experience with Business Objects Application Foundation, Xcelsius and Dashboard Manager is a big plus.

Required Technical Skills:

Business Objects Designer, Report Writer
Business Objects VB SDK programming skills
SQL
Business Objects administration/migration
Knowledge of reporting on Large databases/data warehouses
Expertise on performance tuning/query tuning/database tuning
Strong concepts around Datawarehouse technologies and processes

Desired Technical Skills:

Administration and Installation of BO XI server products
Experience with Business Objects Application Foundation and Dashboard Manager

Required Experience:

Experience working at a Large Corporation. Prior Experience at a Financial company would be required for AVP position (and Preferred)
Ability to utilize programming methodologies and languages
Efficient coding (ie adhering to coding standards, procedures and techniques)
Effective analysis of new and existing applications and platforms
Clear communication and documentation of technical specifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in dealing with IT end users
Experience working on large-scale projects that require interaction with multiple groups of small development teams
Experience with tracking to project plan dates and working aggressively to meeting those dates

Education:
Bachelors Degree Undergrad Degree in Computer Science and Masters in Computer Science is a plus
