We have an opportunity for a Software/Informatics Specialist within the Automated Biotechnology Department. The department is a pioneer in the implementation of assay and screen miniaturization, and has made substantial investments in these areas. The incumbent will work with an interdisciplinary team to develop software applications in support of all phases of high throughput screening operations. He/she will also design, develop, test, and deploy software applications in support of data analysis, Web based projects, and IT infrastructure support. The successful candidate will also provide data analysis support for our assay development teams. Projects will include database design, data analysis, data visualization, and Web based client/server tools. Responsibilities may also include support for IT hardware and rack mounted data storage systems.
Qualified candidates must have a B.S. degree in computer science, systems engineering, information management or equivalent experience. The incumbent should have a solid background in Oracle, PL/SQL, Web application development, Visual Studio .Net, and VBA. Knowledge of ASP.Net, C#.Net, Web services or Experience in GUI design is also desirable. Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and strong written/verbal communication skills are essential. The position is located at our Merck facility in North Wales, PA.
