PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Working under direct supervision, the Business Analyst assists in the gathering of business requirements and translates them into functional and/or technical specifications in order to develop and deliver solutions that satisfy business needs. This includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, translation into proper system specifications, and writing and execution of test cases. The position is competent to work at an introductory level of some phases of systems analysis and considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment. The position may work somewhat independently on projects of low complexity.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

*Works with Business Systems Analysts (BSA), Sr. Business Systems Analysts (Sr. BSA), and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to gather and analyze business requirements and interpret business needs and issues. Develops solutions that solve moderately complex technical and/or business issues. Translates business requirements into technical specifications used by programmers and designers to develop solutions. Meets regularly with programmers and designers throughout development process to ensure accuracy of recommended solution design. Updates specification documentation throughout the development life cycle to reflect design changes. Participates in the solution selection and decision making process as a member of a project team. Assists Application Management in resolution of production support issues.

*Using written communication skills and the Systems Development Methodology (SDM), develops key project deliverables including requirements specifications, use cases, system test cases, test scripts, training documentation and user manuals, etc. for initiatives of small to moderate size. Will assist in the development of these deliverables for larger, more complex projects.

*Participates and collaborates in application development sessions and design reviews to ensure the design supports the uses cases and meets user requirements.

*System tests the solution/application to ensure user requirements captured during the analysis are met. Assists in User Acceptance Testing initiatives. Coordinates knowledge transfer with end-user(s)

QUALIFICATIONS

*Bachelor’s Degree preferred
*Prior relevant industry experience preferred
*Familiarity with business processes related to business channel supported preferred
*One to three years relevant experience working with Systems Lifecycle Development Methodology preferred
*Some SQL Knowledge preferred.
*Some Perl knowledge preferred.
*Sybase Stored Procedures knowledge preferred.
*Unix experience preferred.
*Oracle Stored Procedure knowledge preferred.
*Minimum of one year of demonstrated successful use of major components of the Systems Lifecycle Development methodology or demonstrated knowledge of business processes related to the business channel supported
*Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
*Experience with process reengineering
*Knowledge of and experience with testing concepts
*Strong written and verbal communication skills
*Process oriented, logical thinker
*Knowledge of relational databases
*Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
*College degree and one year of related work experience, or Associate degree and 3 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 5 years related work experience
