Business Analyst
Description:
The Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for championing the interests and objectives of business owners within IT. A BA identifies, designs, and facilitates the application of technology in support of business processes. Candidates must be able to communicate with business owners, users and IT professionals with equal ease to create and preserve the functional integrity of the solution. Incumbents must have complete familiarity with the technologies and applications available to Client, and a deep understanding of the businesses they support. This role serves as facilitator, analyst, specifications owner and problem solver. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to operate in a team environment are essential, as are outstanding documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Work closely and interact directly with Clientbusiness owners and IT staff to identify, rationalize and document business requirements; then design and document practical, useful, and cost effective solutions in the form of functional specifications which become the basis for development and testing.
Conduct analysis that identifies current and future state functional, system and data flows.
Make process improvement and systems enhancement recommendations, leveraging best practices and professional
experience.
Obtain and maintain a deep understanding of Client applications, customers and business processes within the areas the
support.
Maintain high levels of customer service at all times.
Conduct application design sessions and moderate other discussions as necessary.
Conceptually understand the technology stack and distributed multi tier J2EE architecture in order to participate in complex
analysis.
Data flow diagrams, use cases
Work with project managers to communicate project status and issues to business owners.
Work with project managers to manage individual work load and assist with defining and prioritizing project tasks.
Work effectively on multiple assignments, activities or projects.
Collaborate closely with and assist application development teams when required to ensure the functional integrity of project
deliverables.
Work with project teams to develop detailed specifications for application functionality.
Serve as the functionality expert while actively participating in testing, training, and user documentation development.
Provide document peer reviews, knowledge transfer sessions and assist other BAs as needed to ensure consistent, up-to
date Client application and functional center of excellence.
Work with BA group leaders to assemble and maintain a library of model documents, templates, best practices, and other
re-usable knowledge assets.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Business, Economics, MIS/IT or Engineering; advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience working in team settings required
3 or more years business experience in relevant functional areas (especially technology sales, service or marketing
required
Experience with relevant software preferred, including Microsoft Office applications, MS Project, and Visio
Experience as BA with Web based solutions
or more years experience working as a BA, Systems Analyst or other analytical role
