May perform one or more of the following:
Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. May develop a range of products including device drivers, patches, operating system modifications, graphics modules, etc. Analyzes, programs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. Using current programming languages and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Plans and directs studies of potential electronic data processing applications. Develops and installs programs to support general business applications running on PCs. Designs web pages, including graphics, animation, and functionality; develops infrastructure and applications related to pages. May make hardware or software purchasing recommendations regarding web development. All other duties as assigned.

Systems Development Sr. Specialist (BI Developer/Architect) position requires a seasoned, experienced professional who will develop and maintain a Decision Support System (DSS) for healthcare industry using Cognos 8 BI toolset as part of an overall data warehouse strategy.The appropriate candidate will provide support for enhancing data warehouse to report on operational statistics/performance results, create and enhance scorecards/dashboards, build purpose built data marts (using RDBMS and/or Powercubes), and strategic planning for predictive analytics and technical/tool refreshes.Will analyze, implement and document functional requirements relating to the company businesses intelligence initiatives.

§ 3+ years experience using the full Cognos 8 BI toolset to develop solutions
§ Hands-on experience with the Cognos 8 BI toolset (Framework Manager, Powerplay, Transformer, Analysis Studio, Report Studio, and Query Studio as an Architect, developer, and administrator
§ 2+ years experience designing, data modeling (dimensional/star schemas, materialized views and denormalized relational schemas), and developing data warehouses using Oracle (OWB, DI, etc.) or Open Source (Pentaho, Talend, etc.) ETL tools
§ 3+ years experience with relational database management systems like Oracle, SQL Server, etc. and some exposure/interest in column based databases like InfoBright
§ Ability to translate user requirements into Cognos models, cubes, reports, scorecards, dashboards, and portals
§ Experience in setting up Cognos Security using NTLM or Active Directory
§ Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, couples with exceptional oral and written communication skills
§ Ability to train other data warehouse and client staff in designing, developing models and reports using the Cognos studios



Education and Typical Years Experience
Bachelor in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Statistics, or Mathematics with 3-5 years of Cognos preferred. Other qualified candidates with fewer years of Cognos experience along with other data warehouse and/or business intelligence experience will be considered as well.
