C# Developer

Job Purpose:
Seasoned C# developer will be part of a small IT team developing a new application for processing Reinsurance transactions that have been ceded to our company. This project will allow us to retire an older application that did not have much needed functionality and whose technology platform was aging. The developer will be needed to work on a number of software development efforts related to building automated interfaces (into GL system), generating Accounting reports and development of user interfaces. The candidate will work in a cooperative fashion with other IT members and our Accounting users. The developer is expected to produce bug-free code which is documented and well-structured

This position will be within the Corporate Systems IT group with primary responsibilities in the Accounting and Finance areas where most of our applications exist. The CS IT team also supports the HR and Legal business groups but to a lesser extent.

- The key skills are C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, Stored Procedures, Infragistics or Netadvantage, and the candidate should have General ledger accounting experience.
- A plus would be Insurance (Underwriting or Reinsurance) but this is not mandatory.
- Project would be 3 months with a very strong possibility of extension.

Knowledge and Experience:
Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

Technical Knowledge:

• Must have strong development experience (6 years or more) and deep knowledge in coding C#/ASP, .NET and writing SQL Server stored procedures.
• Familiarity with Infragistics NetAdvantage
• Must have been a C# developer for 4+years
• Working knowledge of MS Office tools

Functional/Business Experience:

• Accounting (GL) & Finance expertise is highly desirable.
• Understanding of Insurance (Underwriting, Reinsurance, Premiums, etc) principles and experience with these business applications would be desirable.
• Experience with Freedom PTE GL system would be desirable

Major Accountabilities:

• Take responsibility for assignments through the development cycle, from design, programming specifications, coding, unit and system testing, user testing and implementation. Work with BA/SA/DBA to understand business requirements and develop technical design specifications. Creation of new modules and programs. Coding and debugging moderate and complex application modules and programs, conforming to the published project team standards. Assist in and support application testing
• Possess detailed knowledge of technical project requirements.
• Complete assigned tasks on time and in a proactive professional manner.
• Follow established configuration management procedures to maintain code.
• Prepare for and participate in code reviews.
• Recommend, implement, and continuously improve software development efficiency within the team.
