Description
For this contract position, our client needs a Developer with a broad skill set to contribute to product release automation, customer VSTS platform, and ALM support.

  • Release Automation: Responsible for the automation of currently manual tasks in the Software Development Lifecycle in support of improvement efforts. Automation tasks include, and are not limited to, build and deployment, VSTS reporting (reporting services), and other using VSTS API. In addition, responsibility includes tools readiness and research of new technologies.
  • VSTS Administration and Automation: Responsible for managing external partners' VSTS platform. Responsibilities include, and are not limited to, support of all VSTS requests, project setup, permissions, reporting creation and maintenance, documentation, VSTS & build servers, and evaluation of new tools and features to improve VSTS experience for all roles.
  • ALM Support: Work with Engineering Operations Team leadership to facilitate the adoption of VSTS for ALM activities where it is currently not being used (e.g. requirements management) as well as support ongoing use for activities where it is (e.g. testing, defect tracking). Responsibilities include assisting the ALM assessment, enforcing and tracking compliance with methods and practices, process documentation and coordination of work to a globally dispersed team.

Experience/Skills
  • Must have hands-on experience in development tools, methodologies, and infrastructure
  • Commitment to engineering excellence and what it means to be a professional software engineer
  • Thorough understanding of the software release process (build and deployment)
  • Good understanding of server platform architecture and related products such as Windows Server, IIS, BizTalk and .NET framework-related apps
  • Good Programming skills (C#,.NET)
  • Scripting languages: MSBuild, PowerShell, VBS and Batch files
  • VSTF or SDLC tools administration/support experience
  • Programming skills (C#,.Net), scripting
  • Strong understanding of the role of automation in the release process
  • Adept at working cross-group with other engineers, program managers, solution managers and test teams as our enterprise projects are coordinated with other disciplines and teams around the world
  • Must have experience leading an agile Dev team
