Description
. Expert level knowledge and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN technologies such as ethernet, HDLC, ATM, SONET, POS, Ethernet, PPP
. Expert level knowledge and troubleshooting of LAYER 2/3 routing and switching protocols such as 802.1D 802.1Q, 802.1S, 802.1W, 802.3AD, LACP, PAgP, RSTP, OSPF, BGP
. Thorough understanding of network addressing and optimization technologies such as route summarization, protocol redistribution, tunneling protocols (such as IPSec and GRE), route filtering, route load-balancing, traffic queuing/compression/optimization
. Ability to design and implement an application consisting of up to seven layers (dns, local and global load-balancing, web services, app/java, authentication, authorization, and database). Also the ability to identify fault and troubleshoot issue with these applications in any layer at the packet level in an environment that hosts more than 1,000 applications
. Ability to communicate with and translate between diverse IT groups such as server support, infrastructure cabling, web hosting application services, application programming, radius, ldap, siteminder, database, security operations, security policy, and project management
. Understanding of security functions/products/protocols such as firewall, SSL VPN, IPSec VPN, remote access, authentication, authorization, intrusion detection/prevention, proxy/cache, antivirus, private/public key infrastructures, and SSL offloading
. Expert level knowledge of WAN acceleration principles:
o Data Redundancy Elimination (DRE)
o Compression
o TCP flow optimization (TFO)
. Expert level knowledge of firewall principles of operation:
o Stateful inspection
o Application proxy
o Transparent proxy
. Expert / Packet level knowledge of the following application level protocols:
. 3270 Display and Printer Emulation protocols
. APPC, Advanced Program-to-Program Communication
. AMQP, Advanced Message Queuing Protocol
