Description
Our client is a growing financial services cooperative in need of someone to plan, engineer, design, and maintain performance of the Wide Area Network (WANs), Local Area Network (LAN), Telephony, Video Conferencing, Network Security systems and networking components for the company and its subsidiaries in a complex, multi-protocol environment. This position will lead and participate in technology-related network projects on EITHER a contract-to-hire or Full-Time basis, depending on the candidate's preference.

Primary Functions:
  • Direct and perform the planning, recommendations, and implementation of state-of-the-art network technology and services.
  • Direct and perform installation of circuits and network equipment to include configuring data switches, routers, and terminal servers.
  • Develop and perform installation and configuration of firewalls, IDS and proxy services. Provide configuration requirements for Internet connected devices to allow approved access while maintaining necessary security for web servers and internal systems.
  • Develop and perform network traffic analysis reporting and monitoring.
  • Analyze Wide/Local area networks performance and identify topology, redundancy and security weaknesses.
  • Analyze network security and performance and assist in identifying topology, redundancy and security weaknesses.
  • Establish and maintain network standards, documentation and change control management.
  • Maintain network security and disaster prevention/recovery by developing, implementing and enforcing procedures.
  • Provide leadership, consulting support and problem resolution on network issues and may supervise other personnel in the accomplishment of project goals.
  • Provide training of Network System's Technicians.
  • Interact with vendors, evaluate competitive bids, escalate performance or service problems within vendor organization.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of networking and security technologies.
  • Participate and develop long-range planning activities for the voice and data communications network.
  • Work with Information Security Administration Manager to develop appropriate Internet/Intranet access policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Network Engineering or related degree OR equivalent in technical training, experience and/or network systems certifications
  • Minimum of ten years progressive experience in engineering and installation of data communication networks
  • Demonstrated proficiency in planning, design, and installation of Wide Area Networks. CCIE with Security and/or Voice certifications required
  • Technical training on various network hardware and management systems (Cisco Works, Network Sniffers)
  • Strong familiarity with multi-protocols: TCP/IP, Frame Relay, X.25, ASync, BiSync, RIP, OSPF, IGRP, EIGRP etc.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership qualities with a minimum of three years experience in a senior capacity
  • Must have excellent project management skills
