Job Overview

Under general direction, formulate/define system scope and objectives. Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems. Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Analyze and revise existing systems programming problems and document as necessary. Utilize detailed specifications to develop, debug, and test applications. Maintain existing applications as necessary.

Job requires extensive interaction with clinical and operational user groups to translate business needs into functional and technical specifications. A minimum of four years of COGNOS Powerhouse programming on the VAX/VMS platform is required. COBOL or BASIC programming and relational technology experiences are preferred

Key Responsibilities

Develop program specifications.
Analyze/resolve problems without supervision.
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for applications.
Develop process flow diagrams.
Develop data flow diagrams
Develop code.
Develop and execute unit and system integration test plans.
Develop work estimates for System Enhancement Request and problem tickets.
Plan and monitor project implementation with users and direction from supervisor.
Provide assistance to users in developing programming specifications.
Provide assistance in the analysis and design of System Enhancement Requests.
Obtain user acceptance testing approval.
Obtain peer approval for program specifications, design, program techniques, and testing prior to implementation.
Provide systems and business knowledge.
Supervise the work of 1 to 2 developers.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Technical Skills:

Required
COGNOS Powerhouse Quick development on a VAX/VMS platform.
Cobol on a VAX/VMS platform.
Relational Database concepts/Structure Query Language knowledge.

Desired
BASIC on a VAX/VMS platform.
Oracle RDB knowledge as an application developer.
Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 or VB .NET.
Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 or 2xxx
Microsoft Access 2xxx
Crystal Reports 8.5 or higher
HTML/ASP
NT/IIS
Microsoft Exchange Application Integration
Data Modeling
Healthcare industry experience


Education
Bachelors degree in Computer Science; or equivalent; or four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have COGNOS and POWERHOUSE
