CONSULTING HARDWARE ENGINEER

Invensys Process Systems (IPS) has a consulting hardware engineering opportunity open within our Triconex development team.

Job requirements:

•BSEE, MSEE preferred.

•Consulting level HW design engineer with +15 years of overall experience and a minimum of at least 8 years of direct experience in the following areas:
1.Design of embedded analog/digital PCB’s, modules, sub-systems, and systems using state of the art microprocessors, FPGA’s, CPLD’s, ASIC’s, etc?
2.ASIC/FPGA development and verification.
3.VHDL/Verilog coding, expertise with high level synthesis tools, test bench development and proficiency in the use of ModelSim to resolve pre and post route logic and timing issues.
4.Superb knowledge of high speed PCB design and layout rules/guidelines.
5.Schematic capture using OrCAD or similar SW packages. Proficient in MS applications (i.e. Project, Excel, etc.).
6.Excellent diagnostic, debug, and troubleshooting skills using standard lab/bench equipments.
7.Experience in a new product development environment with knowledge of Design for Test, Design for Manufacturability, environmental, EMI/EMC, and qualification testing for new products.
8.Experience in design of high reliability, safety, redundant fail-safe products.
9.Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to document procedures, write technical reports.
10.Self starter, team player, multi tasking with good time management skills and the ability to function across organizational boundaries.

•Main responsibilities include:
1.Provide technical leadership, mentor junior HW engineers, participate in the development of system architectures and derive requirements for the HW development group.
2.Work closely with New Product Development team including RTSW, PCSW, MKT, V&V, MFG? to design and develop HW that meet marketing and customer requirements. This activity includes Technical Feasibility Analysis for new HW platforms, project scheduling, project planning, preparing HW Requirement/Design Specification, System Architecture/Requirement Specification, schematic design, simulation, PCB layout, component analysis/selection, and prototyping first articles for debug and verification.
3.Design implementation including PCB schematic entry, complex programmable logic design and definition of the PCB layout design rules and supervision of the PCB layout effort.
4.Provide test requirement specification, test procedure, and assist Test Engineers in developing production test solution.
5.Perform engineering verification and validation of new designs.
6.Once the design is frozen, assist Product Assurance Engineers to formally verify, validate, and qualify new designs by EMI/EMC, Burn-In, and other reliability testing.
7.Work closely with Manufacturing to ensure all HW designs meet Testability and Manufacturability requirements. Support initial pilot run and ramp phase.
8.Participate in sustaining, customer support activities for existing products in the field.
9.Identify, evaluate, and select design tools and equipments.
10.Identify, evaluate, and select qualified external subcontractors to support new product development.
11.Manage and write requirements for hardware development subcontracts.
12.Supervise activities of other internal/external resources.
