Description
Immediate opening in Downtown Los Angeles for a Sr. Computer/Electronics Engineering Engineer who will develop CUDA and/or OpenCL neuromorphic vision software to run on nVidia hardware. The software will assist in visual attention, saliency, and object recognition algorithms on GPU platforms. A preliminary version of the working algorithms is already available which is written in C++ for execution on standard CPUs. The engineer will interact with the principal investigator and his students in porting the algorithms to GPU. You will implement software on a machine with three Tesla C1060 plus one Quadro FX5800 nVidia boards. Programming environment is strictly Linux and uses standard open-source tools (Makefile, autoconf, g++, nvcc, svn, doxygen, etc). The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge of GPU programming, Linux programming, and image processing.

Position is a part of a research study. Urgent need. Contract should run through the beginning of Jan '10.

Minimum Education: Master's degree Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Minimum Experience: Working knowledge of electrical & computer engineering; experience with CAE/CAD tools, modern design methodologies & development of solutions for specific design tasks using engineering principles.

Technical Requirements: Required: CUDA and/or OpenCL, g++, Makefile, autoconf, nvcc, svn, doxygen. Desirable: Matlab, Simulink, LaTeX, some understanding of FPGA design.
