Description
Known as the "destination of choice" for millions of visitors around the world, Clark County, Nevada (population 1,600,000), which includes the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Mesquite is currently looking for a Chief Information Officer.
The CIO develops and directs the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the department and county-wide information technology projects; directs the preparation and administration of the department's budget. Plans, organizes, administers, reviews and evaluates the activities of professional, technical and office support staff through subordinate managers and supervisors. Contributes to the overall quality of information technology's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures. Develops, coordinates and provides for overall administration of the County's annual strategic information technology plan, which includes capital planning, application portfolio management, support, and infrastructure management activities. Reviews and approves purchase orders for County-wide information technology capital items; develops, negotiates and administers contracts for professional services and software and hardware acquisition. Represents the department and the County in local and state-wide forums; makes presentations before various committees and regulatory groups regarding information technology and its impact upon County operations; oversees the best interests of the County in the areas of information technology management and funding for effective service provision. Directs the selection of staff and provides for their training and professional development; interprets County policies and procedures to employees; ensures effective morale, productivity and discipline of department staff. Confers with and coordinates the work of teams and project leaders; provides technical guidance and assists in problem solving and making resource assignment adjustments. Confers with members of other departments regarding departmental or County-wide information system requirements and solutions; facilitates the resolution of problems and the development of coordinated policies and hardware and software acquisition. Directs the conduct of analytical studies and software implementation projects; develops and reviews reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations; directs the maintenance of accurate records and files. Prepares and directs the preparation of a variety of written correspondence, reports, procedures and other written materials. Monitors and interprets developments in the field of information technology; evaluates their impact upon County activities, and develops and implements policy and procedural changes as required. Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; may drive a motor vehicle or arrange for appropriate transportation in order to attend off-site meetings and visit off-site County locations.

Experience/Skills
1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business or Public Administration, or a field related to the work; AND 2. Six (6) years of full-time senior level management experience in information technology. 3. Equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.
