Assignment Capsule
The Clinical Data Analyst supports the Humana Medicare Medical Management business by conducting research and developing tools and processes that improve the outcomes, quality, access to, cost and utilization and management of health care. This position will require strong information systems, analytical, database, and interpersonal skills. The position will require an understanding of healthcare operations, the clinical research process, some statistics, and some financial data experience. Responsibilities include:

  • Report and Tool Development
  • Deliver data that involves conducting analysis and developing reports utilizing clinical, financial, billing, demographic and/or statistical information.
  • Provide recommendations based on data analysis
  • Produce visual explanations of data analysis using charts and graphs
  • Demonstrate an ability to integrate clinical, financial, cost, demographic, billing and other data from various sources when conducting analysis and preparing reports.
  • Ensure that all deliverables are accurate, complete, and contain definitions, sources of data, and development identification.
  • Collaborate in clinical and operational research projects.
  • Demonstrate ability and a working knowledge of personal computer applications such as but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation tools.
  • Provide end user support regarding data sources, as well as guidance in the appropriate use of query building, institutionally support business intelligence, and reporting applications.
  • Participate in data quality programs addressing work processes that affect the quality of data entered and stored by various institutional systems
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by the Manager or Director of the department

Role Essentials
  • Strong technical skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends and communicate outcomes to the business
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills


Role Desirables
  • Degree in Business, Math, Health Administration, Accounting or related field
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL, or SAS
  • Experience in managed care or health care administration strongly preferred
