Description
"Under general direction and without direct supervision, responsible for all phases of computer operation in the Data Center. Responsible for providing 7x24 remote and onsite support for NY data center. Will be responsible for documenting problem solutions, workarounds, and general information that will reduce and / or eliminate calls to the support organization. Will develop and implement processes and procedures that will deliver productivity improvements within the collaborative computing environment. Will also be responsible for identifying, escalating, and resolving problems as a part of a collaborative work team involving DBA, System Administrators, Application Programming and Network Operations and Data Center Personnel. Position may require 10-15 % travel.

Required Skills - Good oral and written communications skills and organizational skills. Ability to relate well with technical staff; Strong knowledge of hardware and peripherals; Minimum 2 years working in a midrange system fields; Should be adept at UNIX fundamentals, UNIX system and network administration basics. Good understanding of supporting an Enterprise Network via automation products. Ability to maintain, track, and report project status and metrics. Knowledge of Windows NT and familiar with EDP Standards and Procedures. Must be a strong team player with a constructive perspective and commitment to the success of the group. Responsibilities - Operating and monitoring UNIX , Windows NT and Windows 200 servers; Nightly executing of batch streams on all systems; Will make recommendations to the Data Center Manager to vendor selection in the best interests of the department; First level support of both NT and UNIX servers. Ensuring the Computer Room is kept at it highest level of production and in and orderly manner. Ensuring backups are completed on all systems or escalating and issues outside of operations standards. Maintain and send the Production Services Report to the I/S department; Ensuring projects get completed in a timely manner; Perform first-level operation failure and problem resolution. Perform second-level backup support, problem resolution; Creating and reporting of MIS statistics at the weekly Production meeting. Being on-call 7/24 for all data center issues; Interact with the Project leaders, Managers, Operations staff, Programmers, Team leaders, User Analysts, Directors and, other IS Management and personnel along with the client computing community in the installation planning for Operations hardware and software projects."df-tc
