Description This is a fully competent position in which the incumbent works under close supervision to apply a broad working knowledge of computing/operating systems concepts, practices, and procedures to moderately complex assignments, equipment, and/or operating environments according to established procedures.

REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures all necessary data files are accounted for and available in order to initiate each processing task. May perform required equipment set-up.

Operates stand-alone and attached equipment to complete each processing task. Monitors progress. Operates equipment to perform tasks and monitors database systems in accordance with a schedule of operations.

Identifies systems hardware and software malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action as necessary to troubleshoot/resolve operating problems referring to established procedures and/or escalates problems to more experienced personnel within the department.

Responds to requests from systems and applications software and hardware support personnel, especially Unix or Windows issues

Maintains daily logs, turnovers, and equipment malfunction reports.

Responds to requests from systems and applications software and hardware support personnel and users for operations assistance as needed.

Demonstrates knowledge of the daily operation and monitoring of the mainframe or mid-platform systems.

Unix, Windows, Veritas Netbackup or Remedy experience a plus
