Creative Applications Graphics Specialist

Job Description and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated person with experience in both software development and in computer animation production pipelines.

As an Applications Specialist, you will:
* Maintain the existing software systems used in the production of our on-air control room Graphics systems

* Apply skills toward Special Projects related to Graphics Technology and workflow tools.
* Enhance, modify, and redesign the systems to accommodate the ever-changing requirements of production
* Interact with animators and operations teams to solve technical production requirements
* Develop creative solutions to difficult technical challenges for live to air broadcasts

Responsibilities:
- Work with other departmental engineers to advance direction and technology of Graphics and Live to Air workflow
- Support existing software pipeline infrastructure, deployment and support of proprietary tools.
- Work with other departments to determine structure of technical process for editorial/deliveries pipeline and integration
- Define and provide support for pipelines and Technology processes across both studio and post processes.
- Interface with editorial and production artists to determine needs and prioritize against studio initiatives.

Requirements:

- Enthusiasm in Graphics and creative application development
- Flexible schedule to accommodate the dynamics of live news 24/7 operations

- Experience with CG – platform knowledge - VIZRT, Maya, Photoshop, Flash

- Proficiency in Linux or Unix, as well as Windows
- Knowledge, proficiency in C, C++, Python and VBscript

- Knowledge of relational database concepts

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-oriented player
- Familiarity with current trends in Graphics Technology

Desired Skills and Pluses:

- Working knowledge of Broadcasting and Live Television production

- Knowledge of video and disk array hardware
- Knowledge of SQL or Oracle

- Software debugging experience
- Knowledge of video codecs & streaming video techniques

- Administrative experience in media archive tools and transcode pipeline utilities.
