We have an immediate need for a DB2 Programmer

JOB DESCRIPTION
ONSITE IN BOULDER, CO 6-12 month contract

Candidates need to have current DB2 skills and hands on experience installing and support DB2 V8 on the z/OS platform. It is preferred that candidates have V9 experience as well, but is not a must have skill, providing candidate ha s a solid V8 background.

First shift coverage (Mon - Fri), is required, along with the normal off-shift and weekend work that goes with type of position, in order to cover system changes, new software implementations, and pager rotation.

The pager rotation will vary, but the primary pager coverage is anywhere from 7 to 10 weeks, depending on which subteam the candidate ends up working with.

Client has specific needs for DB2 z/OS installation, customization and day to day support skills.

Mandatory Fields Brief Description:

DB2 Systems Programming Support refers to the support of DB2 and related software on the Mainframe z/OS platform, including both IBM and OEM software tools/products:

DB2 Systems Programmer responsibilities include the following:

. Install, support and customize licensed DB2 software and related tools (IBM & 3rd party vendors).

. Upgrade DB2 subsystem environments to newly released versions.

. Apply planned maintenance refreshes to supported DB2 environments.

. Provide timely resolution to DB2 software related problems, including 24/7 on call support.

. Work with client Level 2 and vendor technical support teams to identify DB2 software related problems.

. Receive, apply and propagate software fixes across supported DB2 platforms, using SMP/E, etc.

. Perform daily system admin type tasks in support of the DB2 subsystem environments. (eg DB2 ZPARM, CDB entries, GRANTS, etc.)

. Interface with application programming teams and other support areas in support of day to day tasks. Required high level of both verbal and written English skills as we deal directly with external customers.

. Ability to maintain & support the DB2 subsystems in a RACF environment. (ACF/2 and Top Secret may also be required)

. Build new DB2 subsystem environments, or relocate existing DB2 subsystem environments upon request.

. Work closely with Operations and Automations teams in defining operational procedures involving the DB2 subsystems.

. Provide technical recommendations involving the DB2 environments and tools upon request.

. Respond to, and assist, as necessary, on DB2 subsystem related performance issues.

. Implement tuning and capacity changes at the DB2 subsystem level.

. Participate in the planning and recovery of the DB2 subsystems as part of Recovery Services.

. Participate in the Problem/Change management process.

. Create and maintain documentation in support of the DB2 environments. (eg Account level doc, Team procedures, Operational procedures, etc.)

. Implement advanced features/function of DB2 software (eg DB2 Datasharing, XML Extenders, etc.)

. Register software licenses using established tools, and maintain software keys for ISV software.

. Participate in annual Software reconciliation projects.

. Install Software upgrades/fixes for software currency, hardware compatibility, new customer requirements and/or platform compatibility.

. Project planning and management of z/OS upgrades & product implementation.

. Provide z/OS Software Support for New Business Engagements and Transitions.

. Create and maintain documentation in support of the DB2 environments. (eg Account level doc, Team procedures, Operational procedures, etc.)

. Implement advanced features/function of DB2 software (eg DB2 Datasharing, CICSPLEX, etc.)

. Register software licenses using established tools, and maintain software keys for ISV software.

. Participate in annual Software reconciliation projects.

. Leadership and Project management.

DB2 Security Responsibilities:

. Implement and support DB2 security requirements as defined by corporate policies.

. Apply Security/Integrity APARs within documented timeframes and track via required database.

. Install, maintain and perform security compliance health checking per corporate policy and track findings via CIRATS db.

. Resolve findings owned by the DB2 teams.

. Perform and track annual security reviews and reports. (eg. - Userid, Surrogat, Group, OSR, SVC, PPT etc)

. Approve requests for access to resources and Privileges.

. Prepare & participate in Audits as required.

Desired Experience Has installed DB2 subsystems to currently supported versions in use today.

Has provided 24x7 On-Call support for DB2 software products, Technical Skills SMP/E - (to install products and apply maintenance)

DB2 Product Installation: (including related Admin & Performance Tools, Utilities.)

MVS Skills: can work independently with JES2, TSO, SDSF, ISPF, CLISTs, REXX, RMDS, etc.

Security Management skills (ACF2, RACF, Top Secret)

Extensive Knowledge of JCL.

Basic Network Comprehension, SNA, TCPIP.

Storage & File Management (DFDSS, SMS, managing MVS files , etc.)

Non Technical Skills Ability to interface with Customer & Tech Supt Teams.

Ability to create and modify Operating Procedures.

Maintain Logs and Daily Outage Reports.

Candidate must be prepared to work within a team on a standby roster for 24x7 x 365 support of customer systems.

Will be expected to perform some out of hours work in order to support customer changes.

Non-Operations Resources are expected to work prime US Shift (M-F 8AM-5PM EST)

Perform off-hours maintenance, normally during scheduled time of Sunday, 6AM-Noon Eastern Std Time.

Problem solving ability.

Fluent written and verbal English skills.
