Data Architect

Location: Philadelphia, PA 19107

Summary:
Primary duties will include, but not be limited to, analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of data warehouses, data models, and applications, using leading edge technologies and methods.

The candidate will also have knowledge of data integration methodologies, data staging and the Real Time updating of data warehouses. As a member of the senior-level technology staff, the candidate is also expected to lead work groups in the design, development, testing and maintaining of databases and application programs
This position requires excellent communication skills, with breadth and depth of technical skills and experience. Mentoring of both junior and senior level employees is required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide architectural guidance to design for reusable components for accessing information via databases and stored procedures throughout the Enterprise.
  
• Strong background with designing, developing, and supporting Real Time Data Warehouse (DW) installations/operations.
  
• Strong background with commercially available ETL solutions such as, Oracle Warehouse Builder, Informatica PowerCenter or IBM Data Stage.
  
• Must be able to juggle multiple projects at one time with direct responsibility for design, construction, and implementation. There may be a need to take on a leadership role but a majority of time will be with architecture and development.
  
• Proficient with various modeling tools and techniques.
  
• Proficient in PL/SQL and ETL in Data Warehousing design and techniques using Oracle RDBMS.
  
• Experience with interacting with a diverse user/customer base.
  
• Experience with both hands on and team leadership for implementation of database schemas and stored procedures.
  
• Provide database optimization and performance tuning guidance and support.
  
• Experience in Web based graphical user interface development (HTML, DHMTL, XML, etc.)
  
• Experience in design, implementation and support of Enterprise class Business Intelligence platforms such as Cognos, Oracle BIEE, MicroStrategy and Business Objects.
  
• Ensure consistent use of Systems Architecture and disciplines via documented common processes, templates, etc.
  
• Conduct training, assign and schedule work for development activities and provide cross-organizational feedback on performance evaluations.
  
• Ability to mentor junior and senior level staff on EDW methodologies, best practices.
  
• Perform database sizing and capacity planning
  
• Ensure that system and software architectures properly addresses persistence, size, failover and recoverability
  
• Understand impact of database changes on other systems and applications
