Data Center Operations Engineer
Mountain View, CA 94043
Temp-to-Perm or PERM depending on INTERVIEW OUTCOME
PAY: DOE

Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's in computer science - MUST
Experience: 3-5 years in web operations/data center environment
Fluent in Linux/Unix
A track record of practical problem solving using Perl or Python (preferred)
Experience with x86 servers, switches, routers, load-balancers, storage systems,
etc. - they have approximately 200 servers, data center in Santa Clara = 250 approx totally
Understanding/experience of TCP/IP, HTTP, security, storage, SQL databases,
memcached etc.
Experience with LAMP/Java/open-source stacks, particularly around performance
tuning and troubleshooting errors
You are someone who prefers automation over repetition
You see projects through to their completion

Responsibilities
Actively participate in the engineering process we have applied to site operations - Teamwork attitude is very important.
Help improve our uptime and scalability through better processes, infrastructure,
and automation
Troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, applications and network
Configure servers and network
Continually document and expose configuration processes and policies
Prioritize tasks and work independently, while interacting with other product and
engineering teams
Share on-call duties with other engineers on the team - make sure they are willing to do this!

COMPANY & JOB INFO:

The company is a Web 2.0 environment (i.e. Facebook, SFGate, LiveJournal, Wordpress, any website that allows for reader interaction, readers to post comments). Great place to work! Must be there daily. Free lunches Thurs & Fri. Very very very fun place to work. Stock options. Plenty of healthy snacks. 5 year start-up.

Someone a bit more jr is ok but SHARP. Someone with a network engineering background, can talk TCP/IP and well rounded. LAMP is key. Python is HUGE. Problem solving. Scripting. Someone who has a sense of business outcomes and automation. Can explain why it's important to automate. There is one other person in this group. Will be a grp of 3 including the VP of Engineering who will mentor them.

They have Foundry switches, Juniper firewalls, Citrix Netscaler, load balancers, Ironport email devices. Cisco equivalent.
