Firm located in Smyrna seeks a Data Center Operations Manager.

Position Summary:

This position has a primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the company Systems data center ensuring the availability, reliability, performance, security and recovery of all systems and networks for the organization.

This position is integral for providing the leadership, management and oversight for the day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure resources, components and services critical to the flawless operation of the company's multi-platform, 24/7 data center. This position is also integral to ensure the cost-effective use of data center resources, timely response for data center issues and is tasked to provide maximum effectiveness in routine, daily operations.


Essential Responsibilities:

Ensure service levels for system availability for mission critical systems and applications.

Ensure nightly batch processing is completed on time and within standard

Ensure efficient and effective management and delivery of help desk services to end users of information systems, applications and services.

Ensure process and methods for system health checks and monitoring are in place and operational for all mission critical systems and applications

Ensure the integrity of all system and data backups and the implementation of effective controls and processes for securing systems and customer sensitive data

Plan, coordinate and communicate routine system and database administration and maintenance

Ensure accurate monitoring and statistical tracking of IT resource utilization. Produce real-time and historical reports providing accurate projections and forecasts for the optimal management of current and future capacity requirements.

Maintain accurate data center architecture and procedures documentation

Prepare periodic status and other operational reports for senior management

Participate in operational readiness and change management processes

Define goals and objectives for data center team members and conduct annual performance appraisals

Assist the Data Center Director with planning and budget activities. Acts for the Data Center Director in absence or as delegated.

Required Qualifications:

5-8 years experiencing providing guidance, oversight and management of complex, multi-platform, 24/7 data center environments
Advanced Computer Science/Information Systems degree or equivalent experience
Strong, detailed knowledge of infrastructure components and best practices
In depth knowledge of data centers, including environment controls, security systems, backup power systems, system monitoring, job automation, management policies and procedures, and physical organization.
Operations experience with diverse platforms (UNIX, Linux and Windows), call center systems and enterprise level date storage and backup systems
In depth knowledge of processes and procedures for IT change management, information security and systems recovery.
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, senior management and customers.
Demonstrated ability to lead, train and motivate individuals to achieve individual, department and company goals.
Driven, success-oriented, flexible team player that can juggle multiple and changing priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Excellent organization, project, time and people management skills
Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork and commitment to quality service and excellence throughout the organization


Desirable Qualifications:

Relevant industry certifications
Management experience relative to the administration of Progress, Oracle and SQL database platforms a plus
Experience with communications and protocol technology a plus
IT management experience for a financial services related organization
