Description
Unison Systems has an immediate need for a Data Modeling Programmer for an R&D agency specializing in renewable energy.
Our clients Strategic Energy Analysis Center requires the development of a data management system with customizable input and output modules to help organize large amounts of annually generated data. The system will be designed to collect incoming technology projection data inputs, organize the inputs in a consistent framework for modelers, collect outputs from modelers, and make these outputs available for general queries and automatic generation of reports and charts. The system will also include version control or tracking. The system must be designed to solve immediate needs, but also with a flexible framework to allow for future improvements. The programmer will work closely with client staff to agree on specific data flow and processing mechanisms, and to develop the data management system that integrates with the existing Excel-based workflows.

Responsibilities will include:

- Analyze data inputs, desired outputs, organizational processes and the subject domain to develop an optimized data workflow

- Work closely with client staff to create an optimized data management system through cycles of requirements gathering, risk identification, development and feedback

- Build modular flexibility into software product to accommodate process, input and output changes

- Document workflow process, risks and software

- Incorporate data versioning control into the system

- Develop Excel spreadsheet templates for data providers

- Create automated report outputs in the following formats: Excel/CSV, PDF and others as needed

- Create a front-end application to output user-selected data and columns/rows of interest to Excel/CSV format

Required Skills:

- Bachelors degree in Informatics, computer science, engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

- Strong working knowledge of data management systems, including Excel/VBA, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Access Databases, and potentially others

- Ability to analyze a data workflow problem and propose and implement an optimal solution within constraints

- Proficiency with a variety of scripting languages and other programming tools needed to implement automated data management systems for the Windows platform complying with accepted standards

- Creation and maintenance of clear, concise documentation

- Strong initiative and ability to research, learn, and apply new software tools and practices

- Strong interpersonal and client service skills.

- Demonstrated experience working in and/or leader of successful data modeling projects

Preferred Skills:

- Masters degree in Informatics, computer science, engineering or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Working knowledge and experience relating to:

- Predictive scientific and budgetary modeling

- Prior work as a data architect

- Prior work in technical R&D environment

- Familiarity with alternative energy technologies, industries, and issues

- Experience with Rational Unified Process (RUP), Rational Rose or similar business data frameworks

- Experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML) or similar modeling tools

Location: Golden, CO

Duration: 6 months

Pay Range: $50 ??? 60./hr. W2
