Position Summary

Under limited supervision design, develop, and maintain Structured Query Language (SQL) databases of student-level information obtained from various sources of data related to educational assessment. Additional responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the data-processing requirements.
  • Design, develop, and populate SQL database of student-level information; work with Measurement Design and Analysis as well as clients to map data into SQL database.
  • Design, program, document, and maintain SQL procedures/queries necessary to prepare data based on complex project requirements and variations in data sources/formatting.
  • Create SQL-stored procedures and scripts based on the technical specs of the project.
  • Develop and test data entry interface with built-in quality control checks.
  • Using SQL, create and conduct quality-control checks on data from initial delivery to final merged data by applying problem-solving and analytical skills in resolving data discrepancies in order to ensure data accuracy.
  • Work with various end users to define data structures and content (e.g., file layout) and validate data integrity.
  • Design and develop specifications for data submission from various clients; accounting for variations in data sources and formats.
  • Create and update documentation supporting data-processing procedures, including data merges, data manipulation, decision rules, and programming guides.
  • Generate reports for Program Management to help with data resolution.
  • Actively participate in developing policies, standards, and procedures for managing large-scale databases.
  • Manage job duties to meet short timelines and changing project requirements.
  • Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work independently and as a member of a team.


Experience/Skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years of experience, or associate’s degree and five years of experience, or education and experience equal to seven years.
  • Data processing experience that includes working in a Relational Database Management System, with a focus on data management in an SQL Server environment using T-SQL and other Microsoft tools.
