Job description:
This position is part of a team that will apply an Enterprise Data Management framework to implement a data quality and data cleansing initiative. Data Quality management is a key capability that is now becoming a focus of corporate business and IT strategy.

The Data Quality Analyst (DQA) will perform complex levels of data analysis by using profiling and data cleansing tools and techniques to assess and improve data quality. This position requires efficient communication with developers, DBAs, data stewards, architects, and the enterprise DQA. This person will participate in the development and maintenance of corporate data management standards and conventions, data dictionaries, and data element naming standards. Key responsibilities include data profiling, data quality, data cleansing, and data modeling. This position is technical and will involve extensive use of query tools and SQL, but also requires a strong understanding of business drivers, processes and requirements. Essential Functions:
* Use the enterprise data profiling tool and analytical techniques to discover the true content, structure, and quality of data within disparate applications
* Store all the facts resulting from the profile in a meta data (profiling) repository
* Collect and script business rules to validate data against
* Help to create a data quality standard and run baseline metrics against it
* Identify areas for data quality improvement, help to resolve data quality problems, and recommend measures to prevent reoccurrence
* Make recommendations to operational support for enhancements to systems of record to improve accuracy of operation data
* Auditing, monitoring and measuring data quality on a daily basis
* Research information regarding questionable data
* Provide input to decision makers. Build rapport and cooperative relationships
* Conduct root cause analysis of data quality issues
* Validate data fixes for accuracy and completeness
* Provide ongoing reporting, analysis of issues and trends and specification of corrective actions
* Perform ad-hoc data analyses of relational databases, manage issues/data inconsistencies as they arise
* Help to create a migration / data integration plan to move existing data to a new application
* Provide data quality services during the implementation of data integration and master data management initiatives
* Use ERwin data modeling tool to create data models and to validate data models created by individual projects for application updates or new applications (databases)
* Create scripts or programs to run batch data changes directly on the database
* Work with the Data Stewards in a proactive manner to ensure the integrity and quality of data in the disparate applications
* Coordinate communication channels with functional groups and provide timely information regarding data analysis
* Perform functions of technical data steward and support business data stewards and business analysts through a governance process and quality review that delivers quality improvement
* Document and report problems to the business data stewards
* Keep all documentation (business and technical metadata, data models, guidelines and standards, processes) current



Qualifications:
* 4+ years of related experience in collecting, manipulating, evaluating and reporting data quality issues
* 4+ years experience working in a large multi-divisional, global company
* 4+ years of data modeling (preferably ERwin) and writing complex SQL queries
* 2+ years experience with Oracle and SQL Server (or equivalent RDBMS experience)
* Understanding of Data Architecture techniques
* Judgment and problem analysis techniques
* Ability to work in a cross-functional team and interact with technical and non-technical peers and managers
* Ability to traverse databases with little documentatidf-tc
