DATA STORAGE ENGINEER


Robert Half Technology is looking for a qualified DATA STORAGE ENGINEER to join our client's network services team. The Data Storage Engineer will plan storage needs and requirements and manage data storage hardware. The incumbent will install new hardware, software releases, and patches. The Data Storage Engineer resolves data storage software and/or hardware related problems. We need someone that will monitor systems to ensure data integrity and availability. The Data Storage Engineer manages data archiving and data de-duplication while being responsible for data backup and recovery. The client needs someone to provide direction for storage systems for the corporation and successfully deploy IT projects on time and within budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:



Job Summary: The Data Storage Engineer has a variety of responsibilities such as developing, managing, and ensuring compliance standards for storage such as SAN, NAS. Some more specific duties will include:

  • Managing IBM SVC.
  • Documenting, maintaining, upgrading or replacing hardware and operating systems.
  • Analyzing business needs and new technology and makes recommendations.
  • Establishing and implementing refresh plans for obsolete hardware.
  • Ensuring maintenance plans remain current for critical software and hardware.


    Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years experience with SAN, NAS, and other data storage in an IT environment.
  • MCSE or SAN certification highly desired.
  • Detailed and technical knowledge of electronic data storage concepts, techniques and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • VMWare, Citrix, HP DataProtector, and Exchange experience is a plus.
  • Periodic travel among remote locations may be required.
