Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work closely with the data architects to analyze project requirements and develop or maintain associated physical data models due to enhancements and new business requirements. Support the Technology Transformation, migration, and optimization; support data migration from retiring legacy systems into modern information systems; analyze and design data sizing and scaling approaches and distribution alternatives.

Work closely with the production DBAs to analyze performance and other non-functional data-centric requirements to ensure that these requirements are modeled and implemented optimally, according to corporate standards, in the operational environment.

Provide technical advisement and coordination across departments as required to support physical data models and system integration efforts. This includes but is not limited to working with the application development team to find the best data store among available data base platforms; enforcing rules and standards for using SQL; developing plans for testing SQL and overall database performance; providing training and support for writing SQL; creating optimal physical database designs based on functional and access requirements as well as volumetrics

Promote data governance across the technical and business community.

Develop and test data-centric programs, stored procedures, triggers and UDFs.

Must be able to conceptualize, define, and develop complex database solutions for large enterprise wide applications.


REQUIREMENTS:

7+ years experience in data modeling/database design with relevant experience on large, multi-component systems.

5+ years as an application DBA.

Information Engineering (IE) Data Modeling Notation

Allfusion ERwin Data Modeler or similar data modeling tool

Experience with DB2, preferably V7 or V8 in a z/OS environment

Experience in large, complex OLTP environments with heavy batch transactions.

Strong SQL

Demonstrated technical abilities in specific data base-related functions, such as tuning, replication, clustering, partitioning, synchronization, backup/restore, and configuration/change management.

Understanding of n-tier development in a J2EE environment.
