Description
Supervises activities of DBA team members for one or more projects. Assists the database manager in coordinating projects. Designs and coordinates the implementation of database structures. Demonstrates the ability to work or supervise multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. Maintains an active role in the on-call and problem solving process as required. Responsible for ensuring the integrity and performance of the database management system.
Designs and coordinates the implementation of databases by applying knowledge of structured analysis and design methods, data normalization, database design standards, and database management. Takes an active role in the coordination of planning and implementation of database backup and recovery. Designs and codes database parameters. Assists in research and implementation of new productivity software and techniques. Develops strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database. Develops standards and guidelines for the database management system and supporting software. Demonstrates a full understanding of DBMS concepts/vocabulary. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Serves as a DBMS technical resource to others. Reviews and gives advice concerning database CALL patterns used in application programs. Maintains a competent level of technical knowledge about database management systems, programming fundamentals, programming languages, and structured techniques. Demonstrates the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Assists the database manager in the development of project plans, including determination of difficulty level, resource needs, and time requirements. Coordinates project task activity to ensure that the projects and associated deliverables are completed in a timely manner. Communicates project or problem status within corporate structure. Interprets technical subjects for non-technical team members. Contributes documentation regarding performance of team members and self. Commits to development of team members to their fullest potential. Evaluates alternatives and recommends situations in on-call situations. Coordinates disaster recovery activities and participates in the design of emergency procedures. Creates documentation in accordance with tasks performed. Ensures documentation is maintained and accessible. Ensures written communication is accurate, timely and thorough. Adheres to accepted standards and procedures. Develops and fosters team member commitment to the TSYS quality standards. Serves as a mentor/trainer for a DBA I and/or DBA II.

Required Skills: Four year college degree and 4 or more years professional experience or 8 or more years professional experience.

Preferred Skills: Ability to think logically, good technical skills (i.e. industry products, testing, etc?), excellent customer service skills, DBS (DB2 related vendor products, SQL, Image Copy, Reorg, Unload/Reload, TSQL, Recovery, Log Analyzer, DB tools), Oracle, relational databases, data modeling, able to deliver high quality technical design documents.df-tc
