30 year firm dedicated to health care quality improvement and medical information management. Client is an innovative industry leader in improving the quality, service and cost of health care through care management, quality management and information management services.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the design and maintenance of a multiple number of relational databases that may be varied in scope. The incumbent may assist and train less experienced staff in the design and development of more complex databases.
Essential Functions:
30% Performs maintenance and backup functions for database.
Resolves issues of diverse scope by reviewing and analyzing
identifiable factors. Partners with senior level staff inresolving more complex issues.
25% Collaborates with end users by conducting needs analysis.
Develops and implements relational database design andmodeling using the appropriate relational database software. Conducts testing of systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
15% Manages the security access and control to specificdatabases. Ensures only those authorized have access andupdating capabilities.
15% Serves as a resource and technical expert to clients and less experienced staff. Assists in the training and development for end users and new employees.
10% Develops and updates documents pertaining to system or software procedures, requirements and changes
5% Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Four year degree in Computer Programming or related field and/or equivalent training and/or experience; 3 - 5 yrs. experience with relational databases; expert knowledge of database software; demonstrated ability in exercising sound judgment and resolving problems of diverse scope.
Because of the nature and immediacy of the work, the ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance is essential.
Required:
Hands on experience with Oracle 10g
ETL experience with large warehouse databases using SQL / PLSQL, stored procedures and triggers
Experience with Solaris 10
Experience in SQL performance tuning and database tuning
Proficient in logical and physical design of databases using Erwin
Able to create technical specs using VISIO and Word
Understands the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Preferred:
Good understanding of Real Application Clusters (RAC) or other high availability Oracle technologies
Oracle Warehouse Builder
Shell scripting
Physical and Mental Demands:
Ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk or hear over 2/3 of the time; reach with hands and arms up to 1/3 of the time.
Repetitive motion using back, shoulders, arms, hands and fingers entering data into PC over 60 minutes at a time.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds under 1/3 of the time.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of manager, clients, customers and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
