The Database Administrator is responsible to translate business data, application and process requirements into database architectures that effectively and efficiently satisfy the requirements, and secondly to support and maintain the resulting databases and the users of these databases.
This will include: Designing, installing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining database systems. Implementing, configuring and troubleshooting database instances (replications, backups, partitions, storage, access, etc.). Monitoring and optimizing system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, advanced database techniques, and other methods, including the use of automated tools. Setting user privileges within the database environment. Establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers. Participating in disaster recovery exercises. Providing on-call (off hours) support of database systems and instances. Providing consulting services to application developers, business professionals, and ETL developers. Encouraging consistency across database systems and instances. And, Managing and leading projects.Required Skills: -Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.-5 years of database administration experience. Experience must include: Oracle (9i, 10G+), Unix (Solaris, HP-US, Linux), vi editor, corn, ERWin, MS Office and MS Project, TOAD/SQL Developer, Oracle Grid Control, Sqlplus, RMAN, Unix Shell Scripting, Advanced SQL (SQL tuning), Datawarehouse/OLTP, Database Architecture/Data Modeling. Strong skills needed in the following competencies: Team Participation, problem solving, time management, verbal & written communications, leadership, and analysis.Desired Skills: Oracle
