Database Administrator (Oracle) - contract

This project is 9 months in length in Sacramento, CA.

The scope of this engagement includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks in Oracle 10g/11g; HP Unix 11 and Windows environments:

• Designing a database from a logical data model.
• Creating the DDL to implement and modify a database using ERwin.
• Sizing database tables and indexes.
• Designing a physical database layout (tablespace placement on disk devices).
• Generating views.
• Optimizing and tuning SQL statements using hints, explain plan, TKPROF and StatsPack.
• Writing PL/SQL objects including database triggers.
• Executing customer created scripts, ie stored procedures, packages, data fixes, etc.
• Setting up database replication.
• Setting up partitioned tables/indexes.
• Installing Oracle software.
• Creating Oracle instances.
• Recovering Oracle databases from a variety of sources: RMAN, cold , hot and business continuity volume (BCV) backups.
• Monitoring Oracle databases using Oracle Grid Control.
• Creating/maintaining Unix Shell scripts.
• Documenting procedures and best practices.
• Responding to help desk tickets.
• Following established change control procedures.
• Setting up Oracle Data Guard or Standby databases.

Qualifications

• Must have at least five (5) years experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
• Must have at least three (3) years experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) on Oracle database version 10g or above. At least two (2) years experience on Oracle database version 11g or higher.
• Must have at least three (3) years experience as a DBA supporting Governmental systems.
• Desirable experience: The candidate worked as a DBA supporting Public or Private Retirement database systems.
• Must have at least three (3) years experience as a DBA supporting databases on HP Unix version 11.23 or higher.
• Must have at least three (3) years experience writing Unix Shell scripts.
• Must have at least three (3) years experience as a DBA supporting databases with a size of at least 100 gig.
• Must have at least three (3) years experience using Oracle Grid Control 10g or higher. Including Tuning Pack, Diagnostics Pack and Change Management Pack.
• Must have experience using Help Desk Ticket applications. BMC Service Desk Express preferred. Oracle Technical Support MetaLink will NOT be considered.
• Must have at least three (3) years experience writing PL/SQL objects.
• Must have experience writing documentation (standards, best practices, procedures) using MS Word
• Must have experience designing a database from a logical data model.
• Must have experience using the ERWin data model (logical and physical) tool.
• Must have one (1) year experience supporting Oracle databases on a Storage Area Network (SAN) utilizing HP XP and EVA disk storage.
• Must have experience supporting Oracle databases that utilize the RMAN backups to disk and tape.
• Desirable experience: the candidate supported Oracle databases (version 10g or higher) that utilize ASM for disk storage.
• The candidate must have one (1) year experience supporting Oracle databases (version 10g or higher) using basic replication/materialized views.
• The candidate must have three (3) years experience supporting Oracle databases (version 10g or higher) using triggers.
• Desirable experience: the candidate supported Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) database version 10g or higher.
• The candidate must have experience using the Oracle database (version 10g or higher) auditing facilities.
• Desirable qualification: the candidate is an Oracle DBA Certified Professional version 10g or higher (provide proof of certification).
• The candidate must reside within fifty (50) miles of the client's Sacramento headquarters during the term of the contract.
