Description
• Bachelor’s degree in a related area required or equivalent education and experience.
• 8+ years experience in IT or a related area, which includes at least 6 years related database administration. Unix knowledge preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the relational database model and solid theoretical knowledge of relational database techniques.
• Skilled in monitoring and tuning the database.
• Knowledge of server-side development issues surrounding triggers, stored procedures, and packages.
• Skilled in presenting and explaining technical information to diverse types of audiences in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
• Full knowledge of SQL, including programming and ways to optimize SQL code.
• Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of client/server database management.
• Design, implement, and maintain complex databases in a client/server environment.
• Receive general direction. Error can cause substantial delay, expense and operations disruption.
• Regularly provide guidance and training to less experienced database administrators.
• May serve as a lead position.
• Plan, conduct and supervise assignments, generally involving the larger and more important projects or more than one project. Review progress and evaluate results.
• May act in liaison capacity with other departments, divisions, and organizations.
