Description
A West LA entertainment company has an excellent opportunity for an up and coming MySQL Administrator/Developer to become an integral part of their development group. This developer will be responsible for designing, building, testing, debugging and troubleshooting web properties in a fast-paced environment. They work with the sales team, marketing team, interaction designers, and graphic designers to create a top internet destination. This is a fun, hip environment looking for a fun, hip person to help architect a top destination on the internet.Tasks and Responsibilities:• Setup and administer MySQL database servers for both Production and R&D use. • Track down and troubleshoot database performance issues to ensure optimal performance of various applications and databases. • Assist with the creation of policies, procedures and standards as well as documenting daily tasks. • Setup and maintain Multi-master and clustering replication for MySQL 5, 5.1 and conducting active upgrades to systems. • Write scripts for monitoring, role change (promotion, demotion, and change master), and utility scripts. • Automate failover and recovery, backup scripting and disaster recovery planning. • Perform appropriate backup, restoration and upgrades of database servers. • Provide assistance to development/design teams, with the ability to recommend best practices both in code and database design. Experience/Skills
• 1-2 years experience with relational database systems. • 1-2 years of hands on experience as a MySQL DBA, with strong and current knowledge of all aspects of MySQL 5.0/5.1 and InnoDB. Must be able to work at the binlog level. • Experience designing, developing, tuning, optimizing, deploying and updating MySQL instances. • Must have a strong understanding of performance optimization at the query level, schema level, service level, OS level, and hardware level. • Ability to script in a high level scripting language (Perl and bash are preferred). • Current working knowledge of modern x86 based server hardware in relation to hardware sizing for database loads. • Knowledge of storage technologies with Linux: RAID, NFS, SAN etc. is a plus
