Description
Currently looking for a SQL DBA to perform a variety of SQL Server 2000 administrative tasks, including:Installing and properly configuring SQL Server 2000 Enterprise (32-bit) on both single and multi-processor boxes. Determining an optimal location/configuration for all data, log, and backup files by identifying physical characteristics (disk space, memory, logical partitions, network bandwidth, planned utilization, etc.) of each box. Creating and monitoring database maintenance plans utilizing both SQL Litespeed Enterprise and native SQL backup tools. Creating and monitoring corresponding log shipping jobs utilizing the SQL Litespeed Enterprise tool. Creating and restoring database and log file backups using both the SQL Litespeed Enterprise and native SQL backup tools. Monitoring and troubleshooting key SQL Server and hardware performance indicators (using SQL Profiler, the Perfmon utility, etc.) in order to identify problems such as CPU overutilization, insufficient RAM, I/O binding (i.e. "disk thrashing"), inefficient SQL code, network bandwidth issues, etc. Setup and maintain all user accounts, server, database, and application roles, as well as various object level permissions using both SQL Server and Windows (i.e. "mixed mode") authentication. Documenting all important tasks/processes that so they can be repeated with consistent results. Performed a variety of SQL Server 2000 programming tasks, including:Create and modify all types of database objects, including tables, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions. Make recommendations regarding the addition of primary keys, indices, unique constraints, etc. to all non-system data tables, where deemed beneficial and practical. Create and modify DTS packages to move data between SQL Servers, perform data transformation/data cleansing tasks, and automate repetitious tasks. Create and schedule SQL jobs, for the purpose of running data-related tasks, at known intervals, in an unattended manner. Assist users with the creation of Transact SQL (TSQL) code used to access data via Windows applications. Make recommendations for improving performance/efficiency of all SQL code. Review all SQL code before moving to Production environment in an effort to prevent major performance issues.
