Description

Sparling is seeking a talented Database Administrator with expertise in the planning, maintenance and development of database systems. This is a full-time position with the opportunity for partial telecommuting.

In this position you will:
• Be responsible for SQL server functionality
• Ensure consistency of data across multiple databases
• Manage service pack and upgrade installations
• Maintain backup schedules
• Update, test, and maintain disaster recovery documentation and respond to related issues in a timely manner
• Participate in quality control efforts for all developed applications
• Promote best practices in maintaining and developing database applications
• Provide development resources

Qualifications we seek in a candidate:
• Associate's degree in related field, plus 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• MS certifications related to SQL Server
• Strong working knowledge of current and immediate past versions of MS SQL Server
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
• Ability to troubleshoot MS SQL Server issues or errors
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
• Ability to protect and maintain confidential information
• Ability to reach sound conclusions and demonstrate good judgment
• Ability to consistently demonstrate a professional, respectful demeanor in keeping with the firm's culture and values
• Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends
• Fundamental knowledge of MS Visual Studio 2005 preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Administration a plus
• Working knowledge of ASP.NET, VB.NET, and Java a plus
