Database AdministratorLocation: Menlo Park, CAJob Responsibilities: * Solid tuning experience with MySQL, MyISAM, InnoDB, and SQL * Prefer OLTP experience * Strong foundation of IT knowledge desired * 5 years or more of general production database administration on various platforms a plus (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS-Sql, etc) * Managing MySQL in production/QA/dev environment including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades and schema changes, etc * Quickly diagnose server problems and employ preventive measures to maintain high availability servers * Assistance in database daily operation * Assistance in developing MySQL tools using PHP/Perl * Estimating project duration, effort, resource load and cost * Creating processes to ensure data integrity and identify potential data errors * Participate in the team effort to design, develop, implement and/or maintain our databases * Generate statistics and reports used to answer business questions * Tuning and optimizing queries * Meet challenges of designing and working on clustered production database systems in a high-availability 24/7 ASP environment * Experience collaborating with software development on schema design and scaling * Create and maintain internal processes to ensure data quality and availability * Excellent problem solving skills and good communication skills are essential, as well as strong documentation proficiency and attention to detail * Implementing Disaster Recovery and Backup solutions * Willingness to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic 24X7 environment * Familiarity with Linux scripting and administration skills * Experience with PHP-based database access is a plus * Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other staff members, to complete short and long-term projects * Responding to outages both during normal business hours and in an after-hours, on-call capacity * Producing documentation for use in configuration, repair and troubleshooting of managed database systems * Participating in capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises while producing supporting documentation.Qualifications: * Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree or equivalent experience or training. * 5 years systems administration experience managing enterprise applications, with 4 years as production DBA * Experience with Linux and Windows environments * Production experience with MySQL replication, multi master partitioning, clustering, backup, recovery, and performance tuning * Strong knowledge of SQL including MySQL 5 stored procedures and triggers * Proficiency in PHP, Ruby, Shell scripting, and thorough understanding of SSH, HTTP, networking and Apache Web server would be a huge plus * Ability and willingness to support a 24/7 Production Environment * Ability to work independently, strong analytical, communication and documentation skills * Passion for databases and data modeling * MySQL 5 Certification and knowledge of MS SQL Server 2005 would be helpful.df-tc
