Description
  • Responsible for maintaining and supporting Sybase and MS SQL Server relational database systems in the UNIX and WINTEL environments.
  • Oversee staff of 4-6.
  • Insure highly available, stable, secure and recoverable databases
  • Keep current on all new DBMS releases to exploit the new functionality.
  • Coordinate and perform database upgrades, installs and testing.
  • Perform UNIX server installations, upgrades and testing.
  • Provide support to the corporation in handling the daily scheduled database production jobs.
  • Perform table modifications, database sizing, security and referential integrity administration.

    Experience/Skills
  • BS or BA degree in computer science or equivalent experience is required.
  • Mininum 5 years DBA experience with Sybase and 3 years experience with MS SQL server.
  • Prior experience performing database installations and upgrades.
  • Prior experience with Sybase replication is a plus.
  • Experience with sql scripting, stored procedures and triggers.
  • Working knowledge of HP-UX and Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts and cron jobs

    Other desired skills:
