Pointe Technology Group is currently searching for a Desktop Support Specialist to work on site with our client, Social Security Administration, in Woodlawn, MD (outside of Columbia). This is a multi-year contract with a competitive annual salary and benefits. All employees subject to criminal/credit background check along with drug screening. Details are below. Job skills and requirements:

Microsoft Window XP desktop support - Includes troubleshooting application and connectivity problems as well as creating and applying new images - Required
Windows Networking experience- Required
Microsoft Active Directory experience - Highly Desirable
IIS experience - Highly Desirable
SQL Server experience (from a developer's perspective) - Highly Desirable
Development experience (.NET; Cold Fusion) - Highly Desirable
Microsoft Vista experience - Highly Desirable
Backup/Restore experience - Highly Desirable
Unix platform background - Desired - Solaris preferred - Any acceptable
IBM WebSphere - Desired
Exposure to various Integrated Development Environments - Desired (e.g. WSAD, RAD)
Ability to work independently as well as with others in a team environment
Ability to adapt well to change
Ability to effectively multitask


Additional requirements:

Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, or similar.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Position Summary:

This request is for a position in a lab environment that is responsible for supporting the development and validation phases of various applications development efforts. The environment is mixed Windows/UNIX (Solaris)/ Mainframe with the primary focus being UNIX and Windows. This position will involve desktop support, WebSphere MQ administration, and Microsoft Active Directory implementation. Knowledge of Java and/or .Net development is a plus. We are looking for a motivated person who wants to work in a dynamic environment with numerous learning opportunities.
